Early outcomes of valve preservation in patients with ascending aortic aneurysm and bicuspid valve disease

چکیده

Background: Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is the most frequent congenital heart disease affecting 1% to 2% of population, with thoracic aneurysm (TAA) formation being its second complication after dysfunction (stenosis or insufficiency). Aortic replacement (AVR) mechanical biologic prostheses has long been procedure choice. Although prosthetic AVR effective in correcting hemodynamic problem, there are important long-term drawbacks. These particularly present a younger patient such as majority individuals BAV. Patient and methods: 40 patients underwent repair for bicuspid ascending period between June 2020 February 2022 Kasr Alainy hospitals. Results: All our showed significant improvement regarding left ventricular dimensions contractility. Two had mild moderate regurge thirty eight non-significant six month follow up echo. One complicated by complete block required permanent pacemaker implantation, another two postoperative high drainage revision bleeding. died from ventilator associated pneumonia prolonged ventilation due disturbed conscious level.

Ascending aortic aneurysm and aortic valve dysfunction in bicuspid aortic valve disease.

BACKGROUND The relationship of aortic valve dysfunction and ascending aortic aneurysm is unclear in adults with bicuspid aortic valve disease. METHODS We retrospectively studied 134 consecutive out-patients (98 men, 36 women aged 43 ± 18 years) with bicuspid aortic valve disease. To investigate the relationship of ascending aortic aneurysm and aortic valve dysfunction we exclusively considere...

Histopathological grading of ascending aortic aneurysm: comparison of patients with bicuspid versus tricuspid aortic valve.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS OF THE STUDY Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is a common inherited condition that is often accompanied by ascending aortic aneurysm. A high level of histological wall abnormalities was reported to be present in non-dilated aortas of patients with BAV. In patients with tricuspid aortic valve, there appears to exist a direct relationship between the diameter of the ascending aorta...

Bicuspid aortic valve disease and ascending aortic aneurysm: should an aortic root replacement be mandatory?†.

OBJECTIVES The higher risk of adverse aortic events in patients with bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) disease and ascending aorta aneurysm is known, but the management of moderate aortic root dilatation in younger patients is a controversial issue. The aim of the study was to compare survival in patients with or without root replacement. METHODS We reviewed 166 consecutive patients with BAV diseas...

Ascending Aneurysms in Bicuspid Aortic Valve

The bicuspid aortic valve (BAV), the most common congenital cardiac malformation, is associated with ascending thoracic aneurysms and appears to reflect a common developmental defect. (Hahn et al., 1992; Roberts, 1970) The average time of patients with BAV undergoing surgery (of the aortic valve and/or because of complications associated with it) is a decade earlier than patients with a normall...

Bicuspid Aortic Valve: An Unusual Cause of Aneurysm of Left Coronary Sinus of Valsalva

Bicuspid aortic valve is traditionally considered an innocuous congenital anomaly. Due to a better and widespread availability of non-invasive imaging techniques, it has come to the fore that 30% of these cases develop complications, viz., valve abnormality (aortic regurgitation and stenosis), and aneurysm of aortic root and ascending aorta. Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm is an uncommon complicatio...
